Mr Sam Schachna
Mr Samuel Schachna is an accomplished Australian business leader and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience across professional services, food manufacturing and consumer goods. His career has been defined by adaptability, creativity and a commitment to leading with integrity, collaboration and purpose.
Mr Schachna began his career at KPMG in Information Technology and Financial Advisory, providing strategic, regulatory and operational guidance across the retail, mining, government and technology sectors. This foundation in business strategy, governance and systems thinking shaped his approach to transformational leadership.
In 2008, Mr Schachna joined his family business, Menora Foods, a national leader in fast-moving consumer goods. As Managing Director, he led a team of more than 150 employees through a period of significant growth and renewal. Under his leadership, Menora developed and marketed iconic Australian food brands, including Wattle Valley and Peckish. His direction culminated in the successful acquisition of Menora by Monde Nissin Corporation in 2015 - one of the Asia-Pacific region’s leading branded food manufacturers.
In 2017, Mr Schachna co-founded Simple Foods, creating and marketing a range of natural and organic products sold through major retailers across Australia and New Zealand. The business was acquired in 2019.
Since January 2020, Mr Schachna has served as Chief Executive Officer of Roma Food Products, a leading gluten-free and allergen-free foods manufacturer present in Australia and over 40 markets globally. He has led the company through modernisation, enhancing innovation, operational capability and sustainability during major industry evolution.
Beyond his executive career, Mr Schachna is deeply committed to social purpose and community service. Since 2016, he has been Director of SecondBite, one of Australia’s leading food rescue organisations. Working with charities and community groups nationwide, SecondBite redistributed 25 million kilograms of surplus food in 2023 alone, providing more than 50 million meals to Australians facing food insecurity.
Mr Schachna holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Business Systems from Monash University. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and their three children.
