Dr Olivia Cook
Dr Olivia Cook is a proud Registered Nurse, educator and researcher with over 20 years experience in the fields of women’s health and oncology.
Dr Cook completed her Doctor of Philosophy in 2018 which investigated the role of specialist nurses in the provision of gynaecological cancer care across Australia and New Zealand.
Her highly-translatable research is focused on patient experience and the health systems and professional roles that support person-centred care.
In 2021 Dr Cook transitioned from her post-doctoral research fellowship at Monash University to a full-time role as the lead educator at the McGrath Foundation where she is responsible for the professional development of 177 McGrath Breast Care Nurses across Australia.
Dr Cook remains an Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University and continues her involvement in several cancer-related research projects.
In 2019 she co-authored a paper on patient-reported outcome measures as a tool for communication between patients and clinicians that was published in the highest ranked journal in the world with an impact factor of 233.
She actively contributes to the cancer nursing community, sitting on several committees that promote and advocate for cancer nursing roles across Australia.
