Dr Megan Burslem
Dr Megan Burslem is a radio and TV presenter who hosts Classic Breakfast on ABC Classic. In previous years, she was the host of Mornings on ABC Jazz and guest host of various ABC Radio Melbourne programs. Dr Burslem has recently co-hosted the Classic 100 in Concert, Australia Day Live and A (Very) Musical Christmas and is soon to host a brand new ABC TV arts program focussed on bringing classical music performance to screens across Australia.
Dr Burslem has developed a career around talking and writing about music in a way that is entertaining, accessible and funny. She is an in-demand speaker for keynote addresses, lectures, panels, industry events and more. She was an Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship recipient for her doctoral studies, is a classical violist, a trained music and humanities teacher and a published academic.
Before her career in media, Dr Burslem was an Associate Lecturer in music at Monash University and Senior Lecturer at the Australian Guild of Music Education. Dr Burslem holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Music (Honours), a Master of Arts (Music Performance), a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology and Ethnomusicology – all from Monash University.
Dr Burslem brings warmth, playfulness and authenticity to everything she does, with and without a microphone. She is a country kid at heart who loves a good scone and the smell of a V8, and her special skill is quoting obscure lines from your favourite 90s action films.
