Denise Goldman

Dr Denise Goldman is the Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Cochlear Ltd, where she spearheads a global team focused on developing strategies for clinical evidence design, evaluation, and communication. Her work bridges business strategy with clinical practice to deliver effective and innovative products to customers. Her previous role at Cochlear Ltd was as the Vice President of Biosciences and Hearing Drug Solutions.

Dr Goldman has two decades of experience in the biotech and medtech sectors, holding senior roles in the UK and Australia across academia, industry, and the not-for-profit sectors, with a priority focus on engaging and uniting diverse stakeholders to progress the development of treatments for hearing loss and rare diseases.

She is deeply committed to making healthcare more accessible and has played an active role on several not-for-profit boards, including a recent position as President of the Deafness Foundation. She is a recognised leader in the translational hearing research domain, and is currently serving as Chair of the Macquarie University Hearing Research Centre Advisory Board.

Dr Goldman studied at Monash University, completing a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Genetics, and a PhD in Molecular Biology with a thesis of “A Role for Androgens in Early Embryogenesis”. Following her studies, Dr Goldman undertook a position as Post-doctoral Scientist at the Monash Institute of Medical Research (now Hudson Institute of Medical Research), followed by an MRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the National Institute of Medical Research in London (now part of the Crick Institute).

She is passionate about inclusivity, regularly mentoring individuals in the STEM field, and is engaged in initiatives that advocate for gender equality and support First Nations communities.
