Adjunct Associate Professor Caroline Fisher
Originally from New Zealand, Adjunct Associate Professor Caroline Fisher completed her Bachelor’s degree and Honours year in Psychology in Wellington. In 2002 she immigrated to Australia to take up a role in one of Monash’s newly implemented doctoral clinical training programs within the School of Psychology. Associate Professor Fisher then graduated from Monash University after finishing her Doctorate in Psychology, specialising in Clinical Neuropsychology in 2005.
She has worked as a neuropsychologist in Melbourne for over 20 years. This includes roles in five Victorian public health services, in the private sector with Healthscope, and in private practice. Associate Professor Fisher has had a varied clinical career, that has included work in paediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult settings. She has clinical expertise with a range of conditions including neurodiversity and neurodevelopmental conditions, mental health, acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes and family violence.
Presently, she holds several concurrent roles. She is Director of Allied Health at The Melbourne Clinic, the largest private mental health service in the southern hemisphere. In this role she directs the implementation of therapeutic services across programs and has over 80 allied health staff under her clinical governance. She is also the Director of Psychology in Allied Health at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. In this role she is proud to lead a 30+ strong team of clinical, health and neuro- psychologists who provide high quality evidence-based care to a wide range of consumers across the hospital network.
Associate Professor Fisher is a passionate clinician-researcher with over 55 peer reviewed research publications and an Adjunct Associate Professor role in the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University. She has sought to imbed research projects within her services to help build the evidence base when existing knowledge has been lacking. She has also researched novel therapeutic approaches, most recently via consumer co-design, to improve patient care and outcomes.
Associate Professor Fisher is an active member of the neuropsychology profession within Australia, presenting regularly at seminars and conferences, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She enjoys her roles as a clinical supervisor, and also as a Monash University Betty Amsden AO Leadership Program mentor to a current Monash student.
Associate Professor Fisher is a current and inaugural member of the Victorian Allied Health Council, providing consultative advice to the Chief Allied Health Officer of Victoria.
