Mr David Bergmann

Dr David Bergmann is Chief Executive Officer of Water Research Australia. He has worked for nearly 25 years in R&D leadership roles in chemicals, food, and water and wastewater sectors in global multinationals, and national and regional organisations. He is an experienced manager and people leader across a diverse range of industries, cultures, and organisations.

He completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) and a PhD in Chemistry from Monash University, and is also an AICD qualified Company Director.  Dr Bergmann has been in the water sector for the past 10 years, and now leads a national research agency set up to drive the research agenda of the Australian Water sector.

Dr Bergmann also has significant leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector and membership-based organisations, including directorships and chair roles supporting community-based organisations, schools and aged care.

Dr Bergmann is a strong collaborator and people leader who enjoys developing partnerships and creating the culture for high performing teams. A practical and strategic thinker with a proven track record in delivering transformational change and translating outcomes from research into real world solutions.
