Professor Gail Risbridger AM

Professor Gail Risbridger AM is a senior professor in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute and Co-Lead of the internationally-recognised Prostate Cancer Research Program.

She is one of Australia's leading authorities in prostate cancer and men's health. At Monash University, she established and leads an oncology drug development program using pre-clinical models derived from patients with prostate cancer. The discoveries from her program have identified drug targets, informed clinical trial designs, as well as changing policies and guidelines in clinical practice.

With over 300 publications in elite journals, Professor Risbridger’s distinguished professorial achievements have resulted in awards and honours that include a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award, four renewals of NH&MRC Research Fellowships, and Lifetime achievement and Senior Plenary Awards. She is also the Chair of the Melbourne Urological Research Alliance.

She is an elected Lifetime Member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, a Fellow of Society of Reproductive Biology and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health & Medical Sciences due to her extensive record of world-class achievements in research, research translation expertise, vision, supervision and mentoring.

Professor Risbridger was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2023 Australia Day Honours list for significant service to medical research and administration, and to education.
