Ms Cynthia Chung
Ms Cynthia Chung is the Head of Procurement for Nando’s Australia and New Zealand.
Ms Chung believes she has one of the the world’s best jobs – her days are spent surrounded by delicious food, working with incredible people for a purpose led company. Ms Chung lives by Nando’s mission “Changing Lives Together” and takes pride in making decisions that deliver positive employment outcomes to disadvantaged communities around the world. In 2020, her contribution was integral to Nando’s winning three industry awards for fast food innovation (health), sustainability and customer loyalty.
Ms Chung holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Management) from Curtin University, a Master of Business Administration (Strategy) from Monash University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is known for building high performing, cross-functional teams that deliver successful strategic and commercial outcomes. Her 20-year career spans diverse industries including consulting, technology, automotive, fast-moving consumer goods and retail.
Ms Chung commenced her career at IBM in Malaysia, rising to become Country Procurement Team Leader before leaving to pursue her postgraduate studies. Deciding to remain in Melbourne, Ms Chung led the Falcon Total Cost project at the Ford Motor Company, a leading-edge initiative to develop world-class suppliers in the Australian automotive industry. She went on to hold senior roles at Cadbury Schweppes and Australia Post before her current role at Nando’s.
Recognising the challenges women of colour encounter achieving executive positions, Ms Chung is passionate about leveraging her professional achievements to promote the benefits of a diverse workforce, to encourage increased culturally and linguistically diverse representation in leadership roles, and to advocate for and be a visible role model for women from multi-cultural backgrounds.
Ms Chung describes herself as an optimist and balances her career alongside caring for her young family and busy social life. Proving it is possible to live your passion in your career and life, alongside her love of travel and good food.
