Anthony Tassone
Mr Anthony Tassone is a community pharmacist and has been a proprietor of community pharmacies since 2006 in outer south eastern Melbourne. He has been the Victorian Branch President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia since 2013.
Throughout his tenure as Victorian Branch President, Mr Tassone has been a strong advocate of pharmacists working towards their full-scope of practice to deliver patient care. During this time as Branch President, Victorian pharmacists have been given rights to deliver immunisations and also prescribe medicines as part of a 12-month pilot following his advocacy.
His pharmacies have been recognised for community engagement and customer service excellence on multiple occasions at both a State and National level. Over the past decade, Mr Tassone has served on a range of advisory boards for multinational pharmaceutical companies and had advisory roles with State and Federal governments.
In 2019, Mr Tassone was the recipient of the Holt Australia Day Award recognising his contribution to health promotion, primary healthcare and volunteerism in the community.
In 2021, Mr Tassone was appointed the Chair of the Pharmacy Guild’s Health Economics and Policy committee – which leads engagement and negotiation with the Commonwealth government and Department of Health for five yearly Community Pharmacy Agreements. In 2024, the Pharmacy Guild signed a five-year Eight Community Pharmacy Agreement with the Australian government comprising of $26.44b funding for primary healthcare which Mr Tassone was the lead-negotiator of.
Mr Tassone holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Monash University and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is an Accredited Consultant Pharmacist.
