Anthea Hancocks

Anthea Hancocks has an extensive background in community service, business development, education, communications, relationship and services marketing and strategy through senior leadership experience in private, government and not for profit organisations. Anthea is the Chief Executive Officer of the Scanlon Foundation, a private philanthropic organisation committed to enhancing social cohesion in Australia with a particular focus on the transition of migrants through research, community grants and major long-term projects. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Scanlon Foundation Research Institute that produces the Mapping Social Cohesion Report as well as many other social cohesion focused publications.

Prior to this, she was the Chief Marketing Officer for law firm Herbert Geer where she was responsible for strategic planning, business development, internal and external communications, marketing initiatives and training. Anthea moved to this role from the National Australia Bank where she held several senior strategy roles in both Operations and the Business bank.

Anthea has been the General Manager, Corporate for the Melbourne Business School responsible for the delivery of the school’s leadership, strategy and management programs, the National Business Development Director for Deloitte where she oversaw strategic business development for their top Australian clients and she was the Manager, Corporate Development for Museums Victoria.

Anthea lived in the United States for 10 years where she was Associate Professor for Museum Studies at the University of Arizona, consulted in the not-for-profit sector in Washington State and Arizona focusing on education and Board development. Anthea has also worked for Taronga Park Zoo and the Northern Territory Museum of Arts and Sciences. She has a B.Sc. in zoology and anthropology from Monash University, an MA in anthropology and business from the University of Washington and an MBA from Melbourne University. She is a member of the Australian Multicultural Council, Chair of Welcoming Australia and Chair of the Monash Migration and Inclusion Centre Advisory Board, a member of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council of Adult, Community and Further Education and has recently accepted a Civil Society and Public Administration Fellowship with the Toronto Metropolitan University. She is Chair of The Huddle Advisory Committee at the North Melbourne Football Club, a past Chair of YMCA Victoria and a Past Chair of Earthwatch Australia. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an accredited mediator through the Australian Institute of Mediators and Arbitrators.
