Moshe Meydan

Mr Moshe Meydan was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1949, shortly after the establishment of the modern country of Israel. Moshe received his primary and secondary school education in Israel and then at the age of eighteen, Moshe entered Israel’s defence forces where he actively served for five years.

At the age of twenty-three Moshe married the love of his life Miri and they had two sons, Yaniv and Eido. At the age of thirty, Moshe decided to emigrate and found himself in Australia with his young family and not much else other than his entrepreneurial spirit and thirst for innovation.

Upon arrival to Australia in 1982, Moshe and Miri started a small garment manufacturing business. Hard work and sheer determination for a better life, saw them quickly build this into a successful business that within five years became a significant supplier to major Australian retailers such as Kmart, Target, Myer and Big W.

Since these humble beginnings, Moshe together with his family has established and grown several other businesses in the sectors of property development, technology, retail and textiles. Today these businesses employ thousands of people in Australia and internationally.

Beyond business, Moshe has always valued people and community. Moshe has established and contributed significantly to various charitable organisation, these include: Hamerkaz Shelanu Jewish Education and Community Centre in Melbourne; Epworth Hospital’s intensive care unit; Cabrini Hospital’s maternity ward; the Rabin Medical Centre in Israel for cancer research and many other worthy causes. Moshe is particularly proud of his support for the Diabetes Complications Research Hub at Monash University and other medical research projects the Monash University team are undertaking that are helping to fight the diabetes battle front and hopefully improve the lives of millions.

Moshe’s philanthropic activities have enabled experts in their field to heal the ill, educate children and bring communities together to thrive with confidence. It is this legacy that Moshe will one day truly leave behind for future generations.
