Mrs Trisha Prpich

Trisha Prpich

Throughout her 34 year career at Monash University, Mrs Trisha Prpich has demonstrated a profound commitment to improving the student experience. She has a long connection with Monash Residential Services, having commenced at the University in 1988 as an Assistant Manager, Administration, Halls of Residence, progressing to the role of Manager, Halls of Residence in the late 1990s and Manager of Clayton Residential Services in 2005.

In 2006 Trisha undertook a secondment to the position of Project Officer, Service Centre in the Student and Community Services Division and in 2007 a further secondment to the position of Executive Officer in the Facilities and Services Division. Trisha was promptly appointed to the position of Project Manager, Strategic Planning and Development, Facilities and Services Division in 2008, and promoted again to the position of Manager, Business Improvements in 2010, before returning to Monash Residential Services as Director in 2012.

Trisha was instrumental in enabling Monash University to become the first University in Australia to be awarded funding under the National Rental Affordability Scheme which saw the establishment of two new Halls of Residence on the Clayton campus in 2012 - Briggs Hall and Jackomos Hall. The design, configuration and management model of these 600 studio apartments redefined and established a new national benchmark for modern self-contained university student accommodation.

During her tenure as Director, Trisha has overseen the transformation of Monash Residential Services, with the further development of new halls of residence accommodating 1000 additional students added to the Eastern Precinct at Monash Clayton in 2016, the addition of Gillies Hall in 2018 at the Peninsula campus and a range of environmental, facilities and service upgrades to the original existing accommodation on the Clayton campus.

Throughout these significant upgrades, Trisha focused on providing the highest quality of service to residents, ensuring inclusivity, respecting and valuing diversity and supporting academic and personal development. Monash University student satisfaction rates, pass rates and retention rates of students living in Monash Residential Services managed on campus accommodation have consistently been higher than the general student population.

In recognition of MRS’ mental health support, response, and education programs Trisha and the Monash Residential Services team were awarded the 2013 Mental Health First Aid Australia Award for the higher education sector. In 2019 MRS was awarded the PIEoneer international accommodation provider of the year, and was acknowledged for its emphasis on intercultural competence, its services addressing mental health and safe living environments for students living in dedicated student accommodation.
