Ms Hang Vo

Ms Hang Vo

After graduating from Monash University with Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts degrees, Ms Hang Vo’s deep passion for social justice and inclusion led her to work in the for-purpose sector.

Over the last 25 years, she has held various executive roles across multiple sectors including aid and development, community health, youth and family services, refugee and migrant support, housing and homelessness.

Currently, Ms Vo is the Chief Executive Officer of Sacred Heart Mission, a Victorian based for-purpose organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness and deep disadvantage. She is also the President of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS), the national peak body for social welfare; and a board director at Respect Victoria, a statutory agency working to prevent family violence. She recently served as Chair of the Victorian Pride Centre and a board director at South-east Community Links.

Ms Vo also holds an Executive MBA from RMIT University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Having come to Australia as a part of the Vietnamese refugee ‘boat people’ seeking asylum in the late 1970s and a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, Ms Vo has first-hand experience of dislocation and exclusion which drives her strong commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone feels welcome and accepted for who they are. Ms Vo shared her career and experiences by delivering the Graduation Address to our new Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Law graduates in December 2023.
