Dr Colin White
Dr Colin White was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia in 1973. He received a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in 1986 and a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1991, both from Monash University.
Dr White is a veteran of the in-vitro diagnostics industry with 25-plus years of experience in conceiving, developing, and commercialising systems that advance the practice of clinical pathology. Dr White’s specific passion is innovation and motivating teams to develop solutions that positively impact patient care whilst also meeting the needs of healthcare providers, regulating bodies, and shareholders. Until October 2023, Dr White led the Advanced Staining and Imaging business of Leica Biosystems and managed facilities in Melbourne, Bengaluru, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Amsterdam, Boston, and Carlsbad.
Early in his career, Dr White spent a decade with global resource giant BHP in various technical and commercial roles. Since its inception in 2007, Dr White has also represented Victorian industry on the Board of the Australian National (Nano) Fabrication Facility (ANFF).
Dr White is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently a Non-executive Director at Celleo and Neo-Bionica, companies developing and commercialising products in cell and gene therapy, and neuroscience, respectively. Dr White is also a Strategic Partner at Archimed Private Equity, a European Union based specialist investor in healthcare markets.
For many years, Dr White has been a volunteer mentor in the leadership program run by the Betty Amsden AO Foundation for Monash students. Dr White is also the founder and benefactor of Monash’s Imagine Scholarships, supporting STEM students through their undergraduate studies.
Dr White lives with his wife Trish and daughter Laura in Black Rock and enjoys his Peninsula Kingswood Golf Club membership.
