The development of new facilities, student accommodation, and shared spaces at our Clayton and Caulfield campuses has added to the usual hustle and bustle of the return of students for the beginning of Semester one.

While the common lawn area at the Caulfield campus is currently filled with bulldozers and work vehicles, the redevelopment dubbed - The Caulfield Campus Green – will create a new campus hub that provides a haven from the busy roads and building surrounding the campus.

The removal of roads will make for better pedestrian connections throughout and a substantial flowing water feature will bring a sense of tranquillity.

New Caulfield library
The refurbishment of the Caulfield library will almost double its seating capacity.

The new area will also include more BBQ and sport areas, raised decking and outdoor seating and desks fitted with power outlets and WIFI capability.

The redevelopment of the Caulfield Library will create a contemporary, engaging library at the heart of the campus which itself is evolving into a dynamic centre for business, design and community engagement.

The library will be a hub of learning that inspires reading, reflection, research, engagement and conversation.

The refurbishment will almost double its current seating capacity.

New accommodation at Clayton will cater for 1000 students.

Meanwhile at Clayton, four new residential buildings are under construction and will provide new on-campus accommodation for 1000 students from January 2016.

The buildings, situated at the heart of the campus, have been designed with sustainability in mind and will aim to have a five-star green rating.

The Sir Louis Matheson Library is undergoing a major refurbishment to make it easier to navigate, more technologically enabled and more adaptable to changing study styles.

It will also have a modern and consistent design and layout.

Some portions of external walls will be demolished and replaced with transparent facades to improve visual connection into and out of the library.

A new recreation area is also being developed between Exhibition Walk and the Lemon Scented Lawns to create a vibrant and compelling ‘morning to midnight’ activities hub.

The “Northern Plaza” will incorporate a new retail precinct, outdoor dining, and informal spaces for sports, socialising, outdoor study, and passive recreation.

If you’re in the area of either campus we invite you to visit and witness the transformation firsthand.
