The Chancellor Dr Alan Finkel AO last week officially launched the Alumni Outreach Program — Monash University’s largest-ever alumni engagement project.

Over 28 weeks, a team of undergraduate students will call 60,000 alumni to share news, hear their views and seek donations for key University initiatives.

The Chancellor was joined by Professor David Copolov OAM, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Major Campuses and Student Engagement) and Damien Farrell, Executive Director, External Relations Development and Alumni.

They thanked the student callers for engaging with alumni and raising philanthropic support for the University.

The Chancellor also shared his views on the importance of reconnecting with alumni.

“This program is vitally important for the University. It is an opportunity for alumni to hear directly from current students, find out how the University has changed since they graduated and how they can support the University in the future,” said Dr Finkel.

The support of alumni is essential as the University pursues its goals to change lives and save lives.

“Gifts to scholarships support students as they start on their path to become tomorrow’s leaders. Donations to research give impetus to breakthrough discoveries.

Support for facilities enhance campuses for students, staff, alumni and the communities we serve,” said Dr Finkel.

Students will be calling alumni in the evening from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday afternoons until the end of December.

To date, the program has been a great success with a total of 1400 pledges received from alumni.
