Monash University is deeply saddened to learn of the death on 20 March, 2015, aged 84 years, of former Prime Minister the Rt Hon. Malcolm Fraser AC.

Mr Fraser was an alumnus of the University, having been conferred with a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) in 2010, in recognition of his contribution to Australian and international society in the fields of politics, diplomacy and humanitarian aid.

The degree also honoured Mr Fraser's contribution to public life, his vision of improving the human condition on a global scale and his long-term engagement with South Africa.

On behalf of Monash University I acknowledge with gratitude the extraordinary contribution that Malcolm Fraser made and extend my condolences to his family.
