Australia Day 2018 honours list
Over 60 of our most notable alumni, staff, former staff and friends have been recognised in the annual Australia Day honours list.
Monash alumnus Captain Peter Ashworth RAN was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Military Division for meritorious service in the field of navy aviation and project management.
Friend and Monash University Honorary Fellow, Mrs Evonne Goolagong-Cawley AO MBE, has been appointed as a Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia. The award recognises her eminent service to tennis as a player at the national and international level, as an ambassador, supporter and advocate for the health, education and wellbeing of young Indigenous people through participation in sport, and as a role model.
Monash University Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) Professor Susan Elliott has been appointed as a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to education. She has been recognised for her contributions as an academic administrator, as a clinician in the field of gastroenterology and to educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific.
We congratulate the following people and recognise the wonderful contributions they’ve made to our society.
