Audition process

All applicants for the Performance - Classical, Performance - Jazz and Popular Music programs must submit a video audition.

All applicants for the Composition & Music Technology program must submit a folio of works.

Callback interviews are by invitation only.

Bachelor of Music specialisations have limited places.

Audition round process

Step 1: Online registration.

  • Round 1 - CLOSED FOR REGISTRATIONS
  • Round 2 - CLOSED FOR REGISTRATIONS
  • January Round - CLOSED FOR REGISTRATIONS
  • February Round - CLOSED FOR REGISTRATIONS
  • After registration, you will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your audition video or folio.

Step 2: Audition video or folio submission.  Please refer to the audition requirements to prepare your audition submission.

  • Please note: All applicants for Performance – Jazz, Performance – Classical and Popular Music must submit a video performance.  Audio only files are not accepted.
  • Composition and Music Technology applicants submit a folio of works that may include pdf files and/or audio files.

Step 3: Interview

  • Your video/folio submission will be reviewed by our academic staff and you may be invited to attend an interview.
  • Please note: Interviews are invitation only.  Not all applicants will be called back for an interview.  Interview notifications will be sent via email.
    • Performance – Classical and Popular Music interviews will be held in-person at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at Monash Clayton Campus.
    • Performance – Jazz and Composition and Music Technology interviews will be held online via Zoom
  • After interviews, you will receive an email advising your audition outcome.

Future Students

Current Monash Students

If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Monash and want to apply for the Bachelor of Music (single or double degree), you can apply via the Course transfer process.

Australian domestic applicants

To apply for the Bachelor of Music (single or double degree), check that you meet domestic student eligibility requirements, before applying via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

To apply for the Bachelor of Music (Honours), applicants must follow the instructions on the Monash Arts Honours webpage.

International applicants
