Industrial Organisation and Applied Theory group (IOAT)
The Industrial Organization and Applied Theory group applies theoretical and empirical methods to study topics in industrial organization, competition policy, auction and market design, digital economy, applications of networks in economics, politics and political institutions and organizational economics. We organize an external seminar series and reading group within the department and co-organize an annual IO workshop with the University of Melbourne. Faculty members also actively participate in co-organising international conferences and workshops.
Our researchers engage with policy makers through the Competition Economists Network, a collaboration between academics and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and Productivity Commission and through public submissions and working groups organised by Australian energy market policy bodies.
