The Real Carbon Price Index

Key researchers

Project description

Regulators and governments around the world use various mechanisms to limit emissions of greenhouse gases. One of these is setting a price on emissions (referred to as a carbon price). Across jurisdictions, the carbon price varies widely, and so do the mechanisms. The Real Carbon Price Indices quantify the price of carbon and how it has evolved over time - to bring greater clarity to policy-makers, researchers, investors, and the public at large.

This project is the result of an international collaboration of experts in carbon markets and financial indices from Monash, C2Zero and SparkChange.
