Circular Economy Transitions

Sustainability Transitions Lab’s Circular Economy Transitions research program investigates the conditions, dynamics and consequences of transitions towards more circular and regenerative production and consumption systems.

Key research themes include:

  • the emergence and diffusion of circular business models;
  • the role of innovation, policy and finance in shaping circular economy pathways;
  • the governance of material flows and resource systems; and
  • the social, economic and environmental implications of circularity across different sectors and places.

Particular focus is given to understanding tensions and synergies between circular economy objectives and broader goals relating to climate mitigation, biodiversity conservation, industrial competitiveness and social equity.

More details on this research program and associated projects will be available soon.
