Nature-positive Transitions
The Sustainability Transitions Lab’s Nature-positive Transitions research program investigates the social, economic, institutional and governance transformations required to halt biodiversity loss while restoring ecosystem health and resilience.
Recognising that biodiversity decline is deeply embedded within contemporary production, consumption and land-use systems, the program examines how nature-positive pathways emerge, are governed and become embedded across different sectors and scales.
Key research themes include:
- integrating biodiversity and ecosystem values into business strategy, finance and decision-making;
- corporate governance and accountability for nature-related risks and impacts;
- law and regulation for nature restoration and resilience; and
- the role of innovation, markets, behaviours, and institutions in supporting ecosystem restoration and regenerative development.
Particular attention is given to understanding the synergies and trade-offs between nature-positive, climate-safe and circular economy transitions and the associated implications for justice, livelihoods and regional development.
