Making paintings is really difficult and being in the studio every day can be a challenge. However, the sense of achievement I get when the work succeeds is what makes it worthwhile. Painting is equal parts frustration and elation. My interest in creating images using this beautiful and versatile medium keeps me wanting to explore further possibilities.
The skills I learned studying Fine Art at Monash have held me in good stead as a painter. Witnessing the commitment of Monash staff to their own artistic practice introduced me to the concept of discipline and professionalism as an artist. The mentors I encountered at Monash helped prepare me for the realities of working as a professional artist.
