Dr Nyein Chan Aung is an Industrial Designer, Design Researcher and Artist. He has given himself a mission to "Make Cool Stuff" and has been following that mission since 2005. As a result, Nyein has won several major design awards for products in aerospace, healthcare and camping. Nyein is currently a Senior Design Researcher at Monash University's Design Health Collab, where he oversees the design of high-impact healthcare services and products.

Nyein completed his Industrial Design PhD in 2018. His work looked into improving the in-flight sleep of economy class passengers (Repose) through the design of the aircraft cabin. Some of Nyein's most notable awards include a Good Design Award for Repose (2021), Creative Victoria's Creators Fund (2020), Melbourne International Arts Festival, Art Trams (2019 Launch Tram), the TEAGUE PhD Design Research Scholarship (2015), Casey Hyun Industrial Design Graduate Award (2009), and Carl Nielsen Professional Development Award (2007).

Nyein was born in Myanmar and has studied and practised Design in The United States, Myanmar, and Australia. He received his Associate degree from the Art Institute of Seattle (USA) and his Bachelor degree from the University of Technology Sydney.
