PRACTICE < > READY

04/17/2026 08:30 am 04/17/2026 05:30 pm Australia/Melbourne PRACTICE < > READY

PRACTICE < > READY, the 2026 Architectural Practice Educators Network (APEN) symposium, opens the dialogue between pedagogy and practice to reframe how we understand the future architecture worker – their diverse labour, skills, productivity, identities and education. The symposium strives to problematise the idea and rhetoric of the ‘Job-Ready Graduate’ by provocatively asking what is a job-ready architecture graduate exactly, and what are we asking architecture graduates to be ready for?

Building on the important discussions developed at the inaugural 2024 APEN Symposium, Practice Matters, PRACTICE < > READY, invites architecture practitioners (small, medium, large, and expanded studios) as well as educators, researchers, policymakers, institutional bodies, and peak body representatives, to contribute to a lively day of discussion on the future readiness of practice – for students, graduates, professionals, and the industry.

The PRACTICE < > READY 2026 APEN Symposium is being jointly organised by Monash University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture and RMIT  University School of Architecture and Urban Design.
