Bachelor of Architectural Studies
Bachelor of Architectural Studies
The world is urbanising at a rapid pace and there is an increasing industry demand for architectural experts who can bring a multidimensional approach to a project. By combining the Bachelor of Architectural Studies with one of our unique double degree combinations, you will gain the skills to think in future-oriented ways and the confidence to engage with and respond to the challenges of our time, such as climate change and equitable access to housing.
Become an architect
Our course puts you on the pathway to work as an architect. When you successfully complete our Bachelor of Architectural Studies double degrees you’re guaranteed a place in our accredited* two-year Master of Architecture course, which means you can continue your studies with the continued support of your peers and the creative community at Monash, setting you on your way to meet the academic requirements to become a registered architect.
To become a registered architect, you’ll need to complete our accredited* Masters of Architecture, which sets you up to work as a graduate and then meet the professional practice requirements of the Architectural Registration Board of Victoria. This professional pathway allows you to work as an architect in many different countries.
*Master of Architecture is accredited by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) and the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA).Graduate career ready
Studio-based learning
Studios are the core of our architectural education and create a collaborative environment for you to explore design approaches through projects that respond to briefs, issues and different constraints. You’ll spend more than half your degree in the studio where your projects will engage with the community or be embedded within an architectural practice. Working on real-world projects, the bachelor degree is designed to set you up for future success in your continuing studies and after you graduate.
Travelling studios
You’ll have the chance to participate in our travelling studios both across Australia and in international locations.
Some locations our students have travelled to are:
— Seoul (Korea)
— Prato (Italy)
— Bandung (Indonesia)
— Kunshan and Anhui (China)

Head of Operations, Goodbye Gas
Most architects starting in the profession don’t have experience in business and have to learn as they go. My architecture skills helped me design the delivery model for Goodbye Gas, but knowing the fundamentals of how a business operates would have been invaluable, especially early on. If I could go back and study Architecture with Business, I would.
