Amelie Scalercio
Amélie Scalercio is an artist, lecturer and Coordinator of the Drawing program at Monash University. Her research examines drawing as a way of thinking and learning, and its capacity to generate knowledge across different fields and forms of inquiry. Her current PhD, Expanding Worlds: Drawing as an Interdisciplinary Methodology for Learning, investigates how drawing can extend beyond the conventions of art to become a language for interpretation, understanding and knowledge production.
Her recent research includes The Second Studio: Drawing on Contemporary Art in the Gallery, a gallery based project and publication developed in partnership with the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), and an interdisciplinary collaboration bringing together Fine Art at Monash University and Medicine at the University of Padua to explore how drawing and medical knowledge can inform one another, while creating cross-cultural learning and expanded approaches to observing, thinking, communicating and learning.
Amélie’s teaching and research extend across Fine Art, Architecture, Medicine and Biological Sciences.
