Supervisors

Maldivian-Australian artist Kareen investigates ideas about transitions, cultural identity, and the juncture between 'local' and the 'visitor' in her artworks using various mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, installation and digital media.

Applying a decolonising methodological framework to build knowledge on experiences of Maldivian artists and other Island artists, the PhD research will examine ways in which creative practices can challenge whiteness, particularly in the spaces that relate to Island nations and its diaspora.
