Immunology is a critical and rapidly evolving field that underpins our understanding of health and disease. The immune system not only protects us from infection but, when dysregulated, contributes to conditions such as autoimmunity, allergy, and cancer. Increasingly, immune mechanisms are also being recognised as key drivers of disorders not traditionally viewed as immunological, including cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases. This expanding landscape highlights the need for research that pushes beyond conventional boundaries.

Our department investigates the fundamental mechanisms of immune function and dysfunction across a broad range of immunological disciplines. These discoveries inform the development of new diagnostics, vaccines, and therapies. Through a strong translational research framework, we work closely with clinicians, clinician researchers, scientists, patients, and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure that insights move seamlessly from the clinic to the laboratory and then back again to deliver meaningful improvements in health outcomes.
