Kotagiri - Systems Immunology Laboratory
Dr Prasanti Kotagiri is a clinician scientist holding joint positions as a Laboratory Head in the Department of Immunology and as a Consultant Nephrologist at the Alfred Hospital. Her group focuses on B cell biology in aging, autoimmunity, and transplantation, using human cohort studies and advanced single-cell and immune repertoire technologies to uncover disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets. Her group collaborates closely with labs at Stanford University and Cambridge University.
Our research
Our group studies how B cells shape immune responses in health and disease, focusing on understanding the B cell receptor repertoire and immune transcriptome. Using advanced technologies such as antigen-specific cell profiling, CITE-seq, and immune receptor sequencing, we analyse human samples to map how B cells recognise targets, evolve over time, and contribute to disease. By identifying shared and disease-specific immune signatures, we aim to uncover mechanisms driving autoimmunity, ineffective immune responses, and transplant rejection.
Research areas
Ultimately, our goal is to translate these insights into improved diagnostics and targeted therapies for immune-mediated diseases.
