Extracting structured data from clinical notes using automated natural language tools. Many studies need to use information from the text that has traditionally been extracted using chart reviews by clinical experts. We can now automate many of these tasks, allowing larger studies to be carried out more economically.
Identifying members of your study cohort who have attended Peninsula Health for linkage with EHR data to expand the breadth of available data for clinical insights or establishing outcomes. We use the same linkage software as government departments to do this. Our data platform infrastructure can also facilitate linkages with government held data performed by their own data linkage units.
Digital interventions involving staff and patients are very difficult to test prior to a full technical rollout. We have experience integrating digital research products into the clinical environment, including patients and families, residential aged care, emergency departments and inpatients and GPs.
This capability has supported the development and pilot testing of digital health interventions to better understand the technical and implementation challenges in complex healthcare environments prior to a full-scale trial.
Clinical Quality Registries (CQRs) collect information from multiple healthcare settings about specific diseases and procedures. Collecting the data for CQRs requires significant effort from clinical staff, often involving duplicate entry of data into multiple systems.
We are working on automated delivery of data already entered into the electronic health record to CQRs to reduce the workload for clinical staff and improve the timeliness of registry data. We also offer the perfect environment for creating and testing new registries that take advantage of modern data collection options.

Our platform and natural language processing capabilities allow researchers to access information that may not be otherwise accessible, especially information that is either poorly coded in standard datasets or not coded at all.
