Bayesian Risk Prediction Model for Risk Identification

A project addressing poor medication adherence in the prevention of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in Australia by development of a clinical decision support tool.

Aim

To develop and test a clinical decision support tool that helps healthcare professionals identify patients at risk of not taking their cardiovascular medications as prescribed, understand the reasons why, and provide tailored support to improve adherence.

Rationale

Medications play a key role in preventing heart disease and related complications, yet many people do not take them as prescribed. This can lead to poorer health outcomes and increased risk of serious events such as heart attacks and strokes.

Currently, clinicians lack practical tools to identify patients at risk of non-adherence and respond effectively during routine care. This project will co-design a user-friendly tool with clinicians and patients to support better conversations, personalised care, and improved long-term outcomes.
