For participating organisations
We’re seeking involvement from twelve healthcare organisations across Victoria, to help us understand the beliefs and attitudes of employees towards the relationship between healthcare and climate change. We’re especially eager to involve non-clinical staff, such as kitchen staff, facilities staff, engineers and more.
Findings of the survey will be communicated to the Victorian Government, as well as the healthcare organisations involved in our study.

Preliminary survey
The first phase of the WATCH Study will be an anonymous survey of thousands of Victorian healthcare employees, assessing the knowledge and attitudes towards climate change and health. Questions will also explore possible solutions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste associated with healthcare, and assess perceived barriers to change.
Qualitative interviews
The second phase of the WATCH Study will involve in-depth qualitative interviews with healthcare employees, to explore in greater detail their perceptions of the relationship between climate change and health, competing priorities for healthcare workers juggling patient care with environmental sustainability, and what strategies may be needed to facilitate a rapid transition to low-carbon healthcare.
