Prizes for students

The Department of Immunology celebrates academic excellence with a number of annual awards for top-performing students. Each prize winner receives $500. Many recipients will become future leaders in research, healthcare practice, policy formation, health services and academia.

Nairn Prize in Immunology

Named after the Department’s founding chairman, Professor Richard Nairn. Awarded to the top Immunology Honours student completing their project at Monash and coordinated within the Department of Immunology.

Mark Barnett Memorial award for Human Pathology

In memory of a dedicated lecturer in the department, Dr Mark Barnett. Awarded to the top level 3 undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Biomedical Science students undertaking immunology as their major field of study.

Jennifer Rolland Prize in Immunology

The Jennifer Rolland Prize in Immunology is to honour the role that Professor Jenny Rolland has had in the teaching of Immunology at Monash University. Professor Rolland was instrumental in establishing the first honours program in Immunology in 1972 and Immunology as a Bachelor of Science area of study in 1976. This award is offered to the top level 2 undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Biomedical Science student undertaking IMM2011 and IMM2022.
