English language requirements
For entry to Monash University, you must meet the minimum English language requirements. You can do this by completing one of the qualifications listed.
Some courses have higher English language requirements than those listed here. Check the course requirements.
If you've completed several measures of English proficiency over a period of time, the highest valid measure will be accepted as long as it's been taken within the required time limitations.
English-speaking background or education
You can meet the English language requirements through any of the ways listed below if you:
- are from an English-speaking background, or
- have completed your final four years of secondary schooling at an institution that teaches entirely in English.
Non-English speaking background or education
You can meet the English language requirements through any of the ways listed below if:
- you're from a non-English speaking background, or
- you haven't completed your final four years of secondary schooling at an institution that teaches entirely in English.
Time limits may apply to the evidence you provide to demonstrate your English language proficiency.

If you plan to enrol in single units or a non-award study program (including exchange and study abroad), you must meet the University's minimum - 2.1.1 - English language requirements for admission to award courses or units of study (pdf, 0.48 mb).
