Miranda Park
Miranda Park is a PhD student and recipient of the PhD Scholarship in Music for the ARC funded project Diversifying Music in Australia: Gender Equity in Jazz and Improvisation. At the core of her research interests is the role which improvisation plays in creating different gender dynamics and hierarchies between musicians. In 2019, she completed her honours thesis at the University of Melbourne, which investigated young women’s experiences of learning and performing improvisation in their tertiary jazz courses. Miranda is also Co-Coordinator of Publications for The One Woman Project (OWP), a gender equity organisation based in Meanjin (Brisbane). Her work with OWP involves producing publications with a focus on elevating marginalised voices and diverse perspectives on gender, feminism and creativity.
