Natalie Morgenstern

Natalie Morgenstern is Head of Woodwinds at a K-12 school in Melbourne. She has been teaching woodwind classroom music as well as directing concert and jazz bands for the past 20 years. She also has a strong interest in fostering music in the community directing the training band for the Mordialloc Jazz Orchestra. She studied classical saxophone at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal while simultaneously completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts specializing in Jazz Performance at Concordia University. This was followed by graduate studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Her current doctoral project is exploring how children experience gender in the primary school setting in relation to instrumental classroom music and improvisation in particular.
