Integrated PhD program application process

Thank you for your interest in the Integrated PhD program at Monash Business School.

Seven specialisations are available (Accounting, Banking and Finance, Health Economics, Econometrics and Business Statistics, Economics, Management, and Marketing)

Domestic and international students

Banking and Finance only accepts applications for Semester 1 commencement.

Before you apply View

The Integrated PhD program is a package comprising the Master of Commerce (MCom) and PhD.

The MCom is a one to two-year research-oriented program that prepares students for the advanced theoretical, methodological, and research skills necessary for successful doctoral research in the following disciplines.

STEP 1 – Assess your eligibility to apply View

We seek PhD applicants who demonstrate excellence in prior study and have the ambition to address global challenges through a graduate research degree.

English language requirements

Sound English language skills are required for academic programs at Monash University. If your first language is not English (i.e. you originate from a country where English is not the official primary language), then the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements must be satisfied. Applications cannot be considered if you do not meet the English criteria. Please familiarise yourself with Monash University's English language proficiency requirements.

STEP 2 – Apply for MCom (B6023) View

After confirming your eligibility to apply, you can submit an application for the Master of Commerce (MCom) degree via the My.App Portal.

Please ensure to include the completed MCom Supplementary Form in your application.

*Note: Only applications with the Supplementary Form, and who meet the eligibility criteria for admission will be considered.

Applications must be submitted by the following deadlines:

Semester 1 (February): Applications open 1 July - 31 August (Applicants notified of outcomes by end October)
Semester 2 (July): Applications open 1 December-1 February (Applicants notified of outcomes by end March)

If you have any questions about your submitted application to the Master of Commerce, please submit a post application enquiry.

If successful, you will be offered admission to the MCom program and then sent an ‘Invitation to Apply’ for PhD (0029).

STEP 3 - Apply for PhD (0029) View

Once you receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ for the PhD, follow the instructions in the email sent to submit your application for the PhD component of the program^#.

Once the PhD application is processed, you will be offered conditional admission to the PhD.

^#Note:

Only applications with the Invitation to Apply will be considered.

What happens next View

Once you’ve submitted your application, it will be reviewed. You will be notified via email of the outcome.

All successful applicants for the Integrated PhD program will receive:

Reimbursement for the MCom application fee once enrolled in the degree; and
A full scholarship for the Master of Commerce degree and a conditional scholarship for the PhD.
