The Master of Commerce is offered as part of an Integrated PhD program at Monash Business School – meaning it’s a compulsory pathway towards a PhD. This first step is designed to equip you with the skills to take part in deeper, best-practice research, while also expanding on what you’ve already learning in your commercial studies and career so far.
Devise and deliver an independent research project in your chosen specialisation alongside an industry-leading supervisor will help guide you through the project.
The Master of Commerce is the compulsory doctoral pathway for the banking and finance specialisation, and a preferred doctoral pathway for accounting, econometrics and business statistics, economics, health economcis, management and marketing specialisations.

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.
Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
Entry level 1: 96 credit points Duration: 2 years full time, 4 years part time | An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline*. A distinction grade average (70%) or above for four units (24 points) in a relevant discipline* at level three is required. |
Entry level 2: 48 credit points Duration: 1 year full time, 2 years part time | An Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline* with a grade average of at least (75%), or equivalent qualification approved by the faculty. |
*Relevant disciplines include: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Econometrics and Business Statistics, Health Economics, Management, Marketing and related cognate disciplines including Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology and other Social Sciences.
English requirements
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

Applicants must attach a completed version of the B6023 - Master of Commerce (Integrated MCom/PhD program) Supplementary Form:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with a panel constituted by the Research Director. Admission is a competitive process.
For Semester 2 commencement, only those that meet entry level 2 requirements will be considered.

Fees
Fees are subject to change annually.
Full fee
Fees are per 48 credit points which represents a standard full-time course load for a year. The fees for 2026 are:
A$38,000
If you are applying for the MCom as part of the Integrated PhD program and you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident, your tuition fees for the MCom component will be covered by the Monash Business School. Your tuition fees for the PhD component will be covered by the Australian government's Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset.
Fee assistance
As a full fee-paying student, you may be eligible to apply for the optional FEE-HELP to assist you to pay all or part of your tuition fees.
