Introduction to Australian Physiotherapy Practice Workshops Musculoskeletal - PDM1197

This workshop provides an overview of common principles and practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Australia, through the use of a variety of teaching and learning activities. Participants will be provided with pre-reading to maximise discussion / practical time on the day. Emphasis during the workshop will be on developing clinical reasoning and practical skills in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Workshop objectives:

At the completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss modes of service delivery in Australia in relation to musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  2. List the components of an interview
  3. Identify the elements of physical assessment
  4. Identify how to modify assessment relevant to a patients' presentation.
  5. Apply clinical reasoning in identification of treatment priorities
  6. Apply common risk management strategies
  7. Demonstrate commonly used treatment techniques

Please be mindful of the following points before you register:

  1. For all Monash University physiotherapy courses, including short courses, you must meet the minimum English language requirements which is the equivalent to International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 7.0 (no band lower than 6.5) See: http://www.physiotherapyboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards.aspx
  2. The courses have been developed for the Australian context and may or may not be relevant to international settings.

Cost includes pre-reading materials, morning tea and afternoon tea.
