Information Technology - C2000

Develop the tech that shapes our lives

Need we say it? Technology is everything, everywhere, all at once - in the way we shop, order food, travel, bank, read, date and communicate. And not a day goes by without the metaverse, blockchain tech and AI entering the conversation. If this is the sphere you want to build your career in, you’re in the right place.

In this degree, learn to leverage computer-based tools to achieve goals of all kinds, whether it’s creating games, uncovering hidden insights in big data, making strong business recommendations, protecting networks from hackers, and everything in-between. At Monash, you’ll study a practical, industry-accredited course that’s taught by IT experts breaking new ground in the field.

This course is all about the application of computer-based technologies and systems to meet individual and organisational information needs. It empowers you with the knowledge and skills to develop, manage and use IT effectively.

The flexibility of this degree, with its wide range of majors and minors, allows you to explore new areas, develop your strengths and pursue specific interests in technology. It offers you many topics such as technical computing, applied cybersecurity, business information systems all the way to games and interactive media.

Following core studies in fundamental IT concepts, you’ll pursue a specialist path in a preferred discipline through its future-focused majors. What’s more, you also get the opportunity to undertake a second major within IT or another area.

This bachelor’s newest major, Applied cybersecurity, offers you an intensive study on cybersecurity in practice.

The technical expertise you gain coupled with the emphasis on soft, abstract skills such as problem-solving, information literacy, communication, presentation, project management and collaboration ensures you’re well equipped for an exciting career in IT.

If you are eligible, you may also apply for the Industry-Based Learning (IBL) program as part of the curriculum. This initiative sees you apply your skills and knowledge directly in a professional organisation via a placement.
