This degree offers an exceptional opportunity to deepen your expertise in information technology while developing the research skills required for higher-level study.
You will undertake specialised training in research methodologies and complete a substantial, independent research project in your chosen area of interest. Working closely with an experienced academic supervisor, you will receive personalised guidance, mentoring and academic counselling throughout the year.
The coursework component builds advanced theoretical and/or technical knowledge aligned to your research focus, while the research component develops your ability to plan, execute and communicate original research. The Honours program provides a strong foundation for PhD or other advanced research pathways, and equips graduates with highly valued analytical and problem-solving skills for research-focused and industry careers.

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.
Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
Successful completion of a relevant Australian bachelor degree in Information Technology (or equivalent) within the past 5 years, with an average of at least 70% overall or equivalent qualifications and experience approved by the faculty.
English requirements
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer.
