The Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Doctor of Pharmacy is an innovative program that seamlessly connects an undergraduate honours degree with an Extended Master's qualification, delivering a Doctor of Pharmacy.

Gaining a Doctor of Pharmacy qualification allows you to graduate within five years—the standard time it takes to register as a pharmacist in Australia—while incorporating paid supervised practice in the fifth year.

A Unique and Flexible Degree Structure
Our Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Doctor of Pharmacy provides an innovative and robust training pathway to becoming a registered pharmacist in Australia. However, we recognise that students have unique needs, and the course offers a variety of flexible pathways that also lead to registration. A number of alternative exits are available within the degree, including the options to exit after fourth year with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)*, and also to exit with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy after five years, with a reduced workload in the fifth year.
*Graduates undertaking this alternative exit pathway must complete additional requirements specified by the Pharmacy Board of Australia in order to become registered as a pharmacist.

Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
There are many ways to be considered for entry to a Monash University degree depending on your educational background and history. The below options reflect the academic requirements for the different applicant categories (or the highest level of education previously completed) to be considered for this Monash course. All applicants must satisfy equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites or equivalent tertiary units including the English language requirements.

Alternative exits
You may exit this course early and apply to graduate with one of the following awards, provided you have satisfied the requirements for that award during your enrolment in this course:
- Bachelor of Pharmacotherapeutics (P2002) after successful completion of Stage 1 (144 credit points)*
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) (P3001) after successful completion of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Core studies and PHR4061 (192 credit points)**
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy^ (P6001) after successful completion of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Core studies and Professional experience (216 credit points).
* The Bachelor of Pharmacotherapeutics alternative exit is not available to graduate entry students.
** You will be awarded a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) after successful completion of 192 credit points of study so you can proceed to apply for provisional registration with Ahpra to commence your supervised practice period.
High achieving students in the Scholars Program (Years 1- 4 only) are required to maintain a distinction average throughout the first 4 years of the course. Should your WAM be below a distinction average, the Scholars Award will not be granted.
^ The Master of Pharmacy award is subject to the prior award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
