What will I study in the Business – Education Studies pathway?
You’ll complete eight units in total, including six core Business units and two Education Studies units in Part 2. Your business studies will develop knowledge across areas such as Accounting, Management, Marketing and Economics, while your Education Studies units will introduce you to concepts and practices relevant to a future teaching career.

Does the Business – Education Studies pathway include work placement?
Yes. You’ll complete 10 days of professional experience in a Victorian classroom, giving you the opportunity to gain practical experience in an education setting as part of your diploma.

To be accepted into a Diploma of Business (Education), you must meet the academic and English language requirements.You will also need to check the age, subject and course prerequisites before you apply.

Minimum age requirements

To enrol in this course, you must meet the following minimum age requirements:

  • Part 1:  At least 16 years of age at the time of enrolment
  • Part 2: At least 16 years and 6 months of age at the time of enrolment

If you do not meet the minimum age requirement, you may be offered a deferred place until you become eligible.

  • If your English test scores do not meet the minimum requirements, you may wish to consider enrolling in a Monash English course to help you meet the entry standard.
  • English test results must be completed within three years prior to your Monash course start date (other conditions may apply).

Part 1Part 1 is completed over two trimesters across nine months. You’ll build on your creative skills and gain an understanding of the fundamental theories and principles that underpin art and design. You’ll also begin developing or enhancing your personal folio, showcasing your creative potential, preparing you for your chosen specialisation in Part 2.
Part 2

Designed for students interested in a future in primary or secondary education.  As part of this stream, you’ll complete:

  • Two Education Studies units (with a focus either on primary or secondary education)
  • 10 days of professional work placement

Current Monash students

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.

Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer.
