Forensic Nursing and Midwifery

This graduate certificate provides you with advanced expertise and specialised knowledge in forensic nursing and midwifery. You will investigate contemporary issues in Australian health law and ethics and the role of health professionals in the assessment of cases of physical and sexual assault. This course will allow you to gain knowledge of the Australian legal system, laws of evidence, the classification of injuries and forensic responsibilities arising from physical injury and sexual assault. You will gain skills in the preparation of a medico-legal report and giving evidence in court proceedings, as well as in the accurate documentation of injuries, collection of forensic evidence and consideration of complex ethical issues.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

An Australian Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in nursing or midwifery with at least a pass (50%) average. and Current practice registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

English requirements

Level C
IELTS (Academic): 7.0 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5 and Speaking 6.5 or Pearson Test of English (Academic):  65 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 58, Reading 58, Speaking 58 and Writing 58 or TOEFL iBT:

0 - 120 scale:
94 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 19, Listening 20, Speaking 20 and Writing 24

1 - 6 scale:
4.5 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 4, Listening 4.5, Speaking 4 and Writing 5

or Courses that require English Level A only: Other approved English tests (minimum entry scores apply)

Courses with English Level B, C, D, E and F: Other approved English tests (higher entry scores apply than specified)
