Agentic Software Engineering - C2012

The Bachelor of Agentic Software Engineering combines software engineering foundations with emerging AI technologies, preparing you to design, build and evolve modern software systems.

You'll learn how to engineer reliable, secure and high-quality software across the full lifecycle while integrating AI tools, intelligent agents, human-AI collaboration and contemporary software engineering practices.

Build strong foundations in programming, software architecture, cloud computing and systems design while developing the professional judgement needed to create software that is responsible, maintainable and fit for purpose.

You'll gain practical experience through our embedded professional practice units that engage industry on authentic software engineering-related projects – developing a portfolio that demonstrates your technical and professional capability.

You'll also have the chance to pursue further work-integrated learning opportunities, including placements with leading organisations supported by an education grant.

The Bachelor of Agentic Software Engineering prepares students to design, build, evaluate, deploy and evolve software systems with AI components, agentic workflows and human-AI collaboration.

It gives you a strong foundation and technical proficiency in software engineering while training judgement, quality, security, usability and responsible AI practices across the full software lifecycle.

Through embedded professional practice units and other work-integrated learning opportunities built into your degree, you'll graduate with a portfolio demonstrating your technical capability, professional judgement and job readiness.

Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

There are many ways to be considered for entry to a Monash University degree depending on your educational background and history. The below options reflect the academic requirements for the different applicant categories (or the highest level of education previously completed) to be considered for this Monash course. All applicants must satisfy equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites or equivalent tertiary units including the English language requirements.

Applicants with VET Study

VET Diploma graduates:

To be considered, applicants who are applying with a diploma, in any field of study, will require a minimum average result of at least 60%. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements. IT-related diplomas may receive up to a maximum of 48 points of first-year level credit.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

VET Certificate IV graduates:

Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. To be considered, applicants will normally require at least 70% average. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

Started or Completed a Bachelor Degree
Applicants with Higher Education Study

Applicants will require a minimum 60% average to be considered for selection. Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements of the course with their previous Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification must complete at least one academic year (equivalent to eight Monash units) of university study. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course.

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites demonstrating the required level of performance.

Applicants who have successfully completed Year 12 are eligible to apply for this course.

Applicants with no formal secondary or tertiary qualifications are not eligible to apply for this course. This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.

Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer.
