Introduction to Australian Physiotherapy Practice Workshops Neurological - PDM1196

This workshop is designed to provide an overview of common principles and practice in neurological physiotherapy in Australia, through the use of a variety of teaching and learning activities. Participants will be provided with pre-reading to maximise discussion / practical time. Emphasis will be on clinical reasoning and practical skill development during the workshop.

Who should attend

This workshop is designed to assist physiotherapists seeking professional entry-level registration in Australia.

Please be mindful of the following points before you register:

  1. For all Monash University physiotherapy courses, including short courses, you must meet the minimum English language requirements which is the equivalent to International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 7.0 (no band lower than 6.5) Read registration standards.
  2. The courses have been developed for the Australian context and may or may not be relevant to international settings.

What you will learn

At the completion of the neurological workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss modes of service delivery in Australia in relation to neurological physiotherapy
  • List components of a neurological interview
  • Identify the key elements of a neurological physical assessment
  • Identify how to modify assessment relevant to a patients’ presentation.
  • Describe how to develop a problem list
  • Demonstrate commonly used patient transfers
  • Demonstrate commonly used treatment techniques
  • Describe commonly used outcome measures

Program structure

Participants will be provided with pre-reading to maximise discussion/practical time. Emphasis will be on clinical reasoning and practical skill development during the workshop.   Course materials include post course online access to teaching videos

Course will be delivered by experienced Monash University Physiotherapy academic educators with clinical expertise in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.

  • We reserve the right to cancel any of the workshops if the minimum number of 10 registrants is not reached. Full refunds will be available to those registered in this instance.
  • Cancellation requests submitted up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop date will be entitled to a full refund, less 10% for administration fees.
  • Cancellation requests submitted between 2 weeks and 1 day (or prior to online material being granted and accessed) before the workshop date will be entitled to a 50% refund.
  • Cancellation requests submitted after online material has been granted (1 day prior to workshop) or on or after the day of the workshop will not be eligible for a refund.
