MUCCU Basic Echocardiography - PDM1205

The Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound (MUCCU) short courses, with its unique combination of flexible online delivery and practical hands on ultrasound scanning support sessions at clinical sites, enables you to acquire this critical competency at your own pace.

This micro-credential Critical Care Basic Echocardiography (CCE) module forms part of the suite of MUCCU short courses. It introduces you to the requisite knowledge required not only to perform a CCE examination but also interpret findings in specific haemodynamic settings.

Successful completion of the *Basic CEE attracts 4 credit points. Along with the suite of MUCCU short courses totalling 12 credit points, participants will be able to undertake electives (additional 12 credit points) for a Monash Graduate Certificate award.

All clinicians, including external candidates, are eligible to apply but enrolment is subject to the approval of your lead supervising clinician at your participating clinical site (i.e. Eastern Health, Monash Health or Western Health).

$5,000 (consultants) or $3,000 (registrars)
Optional additional hands-on 1:1 sessions:

  • $150 per hour for junior registrars
  • $250 per hour for consultants

Your learning and assessment activities will include:

  • 10 hours of personal 1:1 practical ultrasound scanning sessions with qualified and highly experienced sonographers (with options for more 1:1 hours)
  • formative and summative practical assessments with lead critical care ultrasound clinical medical specialists
  • CCE logbook
  • lectures, videos and recommended reading
  • formative assessment of authentic clinical case studies
  • summative assessments (MCQs) of your clinical knowledge online
