Qualifications

• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Paramedic

• AND a minimum of:

• 2 years full-time equivalent experience in a patient facing extended practice paramedic role; OR
• 5 years full-time equivalent experience as a paramedic in a directly patient facing role, and a paramedicine postgraduate qualification in critical/intensive, urgent or primary care with at least a pass (50%) average.

Applicants are responsible for securing and completing a minimum of 300 hours of supernumerary supervised clinical practice. This practice must be overseen by an approved clinical supervisor who is a Paramedic Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner, or Medical Practitioner. Please note that fulfilling this clinical placement is a mandatory requirement for successful completion of the course. Templates for the required documents shown below are available on the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences website.

Applicants must also submit the following documents:

• A curriculum vitae (CV) which details the duration and nature of their work experience as a Paramedic, and includes referee details for verification of work experience, or a statement from the employer to substantiate the duration and nature of employment as a Paramedic.
• Written evidence of organisational support to undertake a minimum of 300 hours of supernumerary supervised clinical practice, with access to appropriate clinical supervision from a Paramedic Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner or Medical Practitioner.
• Evidence of access to appropriate clinical supervision from a Paramedic Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner or Medical Practitioner.

Applicants applying with 2 years full-time equivalent experience in a patient facing extended practice paramedic role must also provide:

• A CV which clearly identifies the duration and nature of that extended practice paramedic role and includes a referee who can verify this experience.
